Climate change and the future
The earth is warming at an alarming rate. Scientific reports show that the global average temperature has risen by more than 1.1°C since the pre-industrial era. For the Netherlands, a country largely below sea level, this development poses a particular challenge. Rising sea levels threaten our coastlines and polders, while extreme weather conditions are becoming more frequent.
Protecting our living environment requires far-reaching measures and a collective effort from government, industry, and citizens. The Paris Climate Agreement and the European Green Deal form the framework within which the Netherlands pursues its ambitious climate goals. The development of new technologies plays a crucial role in this effort.
